On 24 April, the SQUEEZE project joined hundreds of researchers, students, and science enthusiasts at the annual Researchers’ Night in Vienna, hosted – amongst lots of other institutions – also by the Medical University of Vienna.
Together with colleagues from the Division of Rheumatology, our team welcomed visitors of all ages to discover more about rheumatology research, patient care, and the innovative projects shaping the future of healthcare.
Science You Can Experience
Throughout the evening, visitors had the opportunity to engage directly with researchers and healthcare professionals. Hands-on activities, including ultrasound demonstrations, offered a glimpse into the daily realities of rheumatology practice and research.
The event created a unique space for conversations about rheumatoid arthritis, ongoing research efforts, and the challenges faced by patients living with chronic inflammatory diseases.

Teaming Up Across Projects
SQUEEZE was proudly represented by our ambassadors Caroline and François, who spent the evening introducing visitors not only to SQUEEZE, but also to several closely connected projects, including AutoPiX, STRATA-FIT, and ID-DarkMatter-NCD.
By showcasing multiple projects side by side, visitors gained a broader understanding of how different research initiatives contribute to improving diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life for people living with rheumatic diseases.
Why Public Engagement Matters
Events such as Researchers’ Night are an important reminder that research does not happen in isolation. Scientific progress depends not only on generating new knowledge, but also on sharing it, discussing it, and making it accessible.
When people better understand research, they are more likely to engage with it, trust scientific processes, and benefit from the innovations that emerge from them. Open dialogue between researchers and the public helps build stronger connections, supports informed health decisions, and fosters a greater appreciation for the role of science in society.
We would like to thank everyone who stopped by our booth, asked questions, shared their experiences, and helped make this year’s Researchers’ Night such a memorable event.
