Our 2nd General Assembly meeting was held from 25 to 26 January at the Alte Universität in Basel, Switzerland together with over 50 scientists, clinicians and patient research partners from 10 European countries.
The two-and-a-half-day event marked a milestone in our innovative project after the first year of collaboration. It was opened with welcoming remarks by Viola Heinzelmann-Schwarz, Vice Dean for Research at the Faculty of Medicine, Sabina De Geest, Professor of Nursing Science, and Daniel Aletaha, Head of the Clinical Department of Rheumatology at the Department of Internal Medicine III at the Medical University of Vienna and scientific coordinator of our project.
Against the picturesque backdrop of the Rhine, we discussed the current status and next steps of the our joint project. The working groups presented the progress of their work and worked out the next steps for conducting clinical trials and data management, with our patient experts actively contributing their perspectives and experiences. We had lively discussions on shipment of samples, authorship of publications, learned more about the Torque-Teno-Virus, sweat analyses and reflected upon the development, implementation and pilot testing of an integrated technology-supported care model for rheumatoid arthritis.
